vroom 1What is the VROOM program?
VROOM stands for “Vehicle Redemption Outreach & Opportunity Ministry”. It is a program offered by the New Hope Resource Center at Morning Star Church where participants can receive a vehicle at little or no cost.

Who does the Car Ministry help?
VROOM is open to individuals who live within the service area of the New Hope Resource Center.  Proof of address is required at the time of application.

How do I start the VROOM program?
Before you can begin the VROOM program, you must first graduate from the Journey to Freedom class, which is an eight week course offered periodically through the New Hope Resource Center. This class teaches basic life skills such as overcoming challenges and managing change.

What do I have to do to get a car?
VROOM is a “learn, earn & serve” program. After graduating from Journey to Freedom and submitting your application, you will need to ear “miles”.  Miles can be earned in a variety of ways – for instance, volunteering at the New Hope Resource Center, obtaining a GED, attending self-improvement classes, etc. Once you earn 20 miles, you’re eligible to receive a car. The person with the most miles on the day we receive a donated vehicle will receive it.

How long does it take to get a car?
It’s different for everyone. Some people earn miles very quickly, while others take a little longer. Once you graduate from Journey to Freedom, it realistically may take 3-12 months for you to earn a car.

Where do the cars come from?
Vehicles are donated to the VROOM program by people in our church and in the community. We inspect the vehicles and make repairs necessary to ensure they are safe and reasonably reliable.  Do you have a car to donate?
