I got to do something really cool this week.
Several weeks back, I ‘made an ask’ for empty laundry detergent bottles – we have some wonderful volunteers who come in every month to make homemade laundry detergent to give away at our Personal Essentials Pantry. The only problem has been that we’ve run out of bottles to put the detergent in.
Thanks to the power of Facebook, our need was telegraphed all over the St. Louis metro area. We began receiving more empty bottle donations than normal – which itself was an answer to prayer.
But then I got a call from Mrs. Yerxa. She’s a fourth grade teacher at Bellerive Elementary School in Creve Coeur. She told me that she had seen our need, and her school decided to collect empty detergent bottles for the entire school year. I was blown away – a school that isn’t even in our county wanted to partner with us to transform lives!
Mrs. Yerxa said that they had already collected a lot of bottles, so I drove down on Monday to pick up what they had, and to meet a couple of the students who had helped collect them.
It was so neat to see how God provided for the needs at the New Hope Resource Center – plus I’m thrilled that these kids get to experience the joy of serving others.
Thank you Mrs. Yerxa, and thank you students of Bellerive Elementary – God is using you in incredible ways!
